CALIFIA® Routine Maintenance

The following instructions outline the steps for draining the CALIFIA® system during routine maintenance.

Ensure you are connected to a stable power source before beginning. Always follow these steps carefully to avoid damage to the device.
  1. Turn off the roller pump:

    • Ensure the roller pump is powered down before proceeding.
  2. Open the valves and the peristaltic pump lid

    • Set both valves to 100% open.
    • Open the lid of the Peristaltic Pump.
  3. Exit the CALIFIA® Simulator program:

    • Close the simulator program safely to ensure all processes are terminated.
  4. Power down CALIFIA® Patient Module (CPM):

    • Turn off the device.
    • Remove both the power cable and Ethernet cable.
  5. Drain the reservoir:

    • If necessary, unclamp the venous line.
    • Allow water to drain from the reservoir, tilting it towards the venous line exit to facilitate draining.
  6. Clear the roller pump lines:

    • Rotate the roller pump manually clockwise to draw water from the arterial and water reference lines.
  7. Remove and clamp tubes:

    • Clamp both venous and arterial tubes into their fittings, then detach them from CPM.
  8. Disconnect CP Flow and Vent fittings:

    • Detach the ¼-inch tubing from the CP Flow and Vent fittings.
  9. Drain into a bucket:

    • Tilt CPM toward the corner nearest the reservoir level scale to carefully drain water into a bucket.
  10. Dry the reservoir:

    • Use paper towels to remove any remaining water in the reservoir.
    • Allow the system to sit and air-dry completely.
