How to Run a Scenario

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for running a scenario in CALIFIA® Simulator Software.

  1. Launch Software: Initiate CALIFIA® Simulator Software.
  2. Create Scenario File: Click on the left side Menu and select “Scenario Editor”. Then, click on “File” and “Save as”, and put the scenario name of your choice. After doing that, your initial screen should look like Figure 1.
    Figure 1: Opening Screen.
  3. Initiate Scenario: Press the “Continue” button located in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Ensure that the “Califia Patient Module” is selected in the top-right corner. If “SIM” is selected instead, switch to the appropriate module.
  4. Customize your Scenario
    1. First Step: Start with the pre-ECMO stage, where the patient presents a CVP of 12.
    2. Second Step: Proceed to initiate ECMO.
    3. Third Step: Create a clinical situation of your choice, tailored to your training needs.
    4. Fourth Step: Conclude by identifying that the issue has been resolved.

This sequence serves as a guide and can be fully customized, allowing users to create unique and flexible scenarios to meet specific training objectives.

Additionally, you have the option to load a pre-existing scenario. When “Other” is selected (as shown in Figure 1), click on the icon highlighted in the red circle (Figure 2). This will open the file explorer, enabling you to select and load your desired scenario file.
